Recognize the Causes of Brain Bleeding

Brain hemorrhage is bleeding that occurs in brain tissue. This condition is caused by the rupture of arteries in the brain causing local bleeding in the surrounding tissue and death of brain cells. Many people who experience brain hemorrhage have stroke-like symptoms, such as weakness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking, or numbness. Brain hemorrhage is a serious medical condition that requires immediate examination and treatment by a doctor at the hospital.

Types of brain hemorrhage

Generally, all bleeding that occurs in the brain is called brain bleeding. But, based on the location of the occurrence, brain hemorrhage can be divided into several types, including:
  • Subarachnoid hemorrhage

  • Bleeding that occurs in the brain tissue under the protective membrane of the brain. This type of brain hemorrhage is often caused by rupture of blood vessels of the brain due to aneurysms, blood clotting disorders, or severe head injuries.
  • Epidural and subdural hematomas

  • Blood clots that occur between the brain and skull, can be above or below the protective membrane of the brain.
  • Intracerebral hemorrhage

  • Bleeding that occurs in the brain tissue itself. This type of brain hemorrhage can spread to the ventricular space of the brain and cause brain swelling.

Here Is The Cause Of Brain Bleeding

There are several risk factors and causes of brain hemorrhage. The following are common causes of brain hemorrhage, which are:
  • High blood pressure

  • High blood pressure or hypertension is a chronic (long-term) disease that can weaken the walls of blood vessels, including brain blood vessels. If blood pressure is out of control, over time this disease has the potential to cause a bleeding stroke (hemorrhagic stroke).
  • Head injury

  • Most occurs in people under the age of 50 years. Most likely this condition is caused by an accident or fall. Traffic accidents, falls from heights, and head injuries due to sports are also common causes of brain hemorrhage.
  • Vascular disorders

  • This condition that can occur at birth can make the walls of blood vessels around and the inside of the brain become weak. This disorder is called venous artery malformation. People with this disorder do not always complain of symptoms, but immediately the blood vessels can rupture and cause dangerous conditions.
  • Blood clotting disorders

  • Decreased platelets can also cause brain hemorrhage. Sickle cell anemia (a condition in which red blood cells are abnormally shaped), hemophilia (the body lacks protein for blood clotting), so that taking blood-thinning drugs can contribute to this.
  • Swelling of blood vessels (aneurysm)

  • Aneurysms cause weakening of blood vessels, which can then rupture and cause bleeding in the brain. This condition can cause a stroke.
  • Amyloid angiopathy

  • Amyloid angiopathy is a condition in which blood vessel wall abnormalities occur due to age or hypertension. This condition can cause a lot of small bleeding that leads to greater bleeding.
Other things that cause brain bleeding include brain tumors and liver disease. Some causes of brain hemorrhage can be overcome early on. For example, by maintaining a healthy diet and living to avoid high blood pressure. You can also begin to find out about hypertension prevention and treatment by consulting a doctor.

Symptoms of Brain Bleeding

Generally someone who experiences brain hemorrhage will experience a sudden severe headache, vomiting, confusion (delirium), until fainting. Even so, this is not always experienced by everyone. Symptoms that appear depend on the location of the bleeding. For example, if a part of the brain associated with vision experiences bleeding, then the symptom that may arise is that the patient has vision problems. Other symptoms that may occur in patients with cerebral hemorrhage are sudden seizures, impaired coordination and balance, and difficulty swallowing. If brain hemorrhage occurs in the lower part or the brain stem, the patient may go into a coma, until respiratory failure. While brain hemorrhage that occurs in the center of speech, the patient can experience interference in speaking. To evaluate brain damage, the doctor will determine which part of the brain is bleeding based on symptoms that arise, as well as through physical examination, and CT scan or MRI imaging tests of the brain. And if you can determine the location of the bleeding, the doctor will take appropriate treatment steps. Brain hemorrhage is a medical emergency condition that needs to be dealt with immediately at the nearest hospital emergency room. If brain hemorrhage results in coma or difficulty breathing, intubation will be needed to give artificial respiration. Installation of infusion for administration of fluids and drugs is also needed. If the condition worsens, brain hemorrhage needs to be monitored closely in the intensive care room in the hospital.
